The valve cover gasket seals the valve cover to the cylinder head, preventing oil from leaking onto the engine. A worn gasket is a common source of oil seepage and burning oil smell around the engine bay.

This valve cover gasket (OE 11127588418) fits the BMW F30 328i, F20, and F10 platforms with the N20 2.0L turbo engine, and is shared across X1, F11, F25, X3, and Z4 applications.
